Welcome to the Microsoft Groove 2007 Essentials workshop. In this course, you’ll show you’re participants how to communicate and collaborate with team members all over the world, whether they are in your organization or not. Taking the time to learn about the basic features of Groove 2007 will increase their collaboration and communication skills.
Groove 2007 allows people to create workspaces, share files, and start and participate in team discussions. You’ll also show the participants how to use Groove tools like the Calendar and SketchPad. Your participants will learn how to use the basic features of Groove 2007. This workshop incorporates a hands-on approach to learning. They will get a chance to practice some of the basic features right on a computer.
Welcome to the Microsoft Groove 2007 Essentials workshop. In this course, we’ll show you how to communicate and collaborate with team members all over the world, whether they are in your organization or not. Groove allows you to create workspaces, share files, and start and participate in team discussions. We’ll also show you how to use Groove tools like the Calendar and SketchPad.
Get ready for the new world of work, where workers are no longer confined to one workplace to collaborate. In this module, we’ll look at how Groove works to keep all team members in sync. You’ll also learn how to open Groove. We’ll take a close look at the Launchbar so that you’ll be ready to learn about different Groove activities in later modules. Finally, we’ll learn how to close Groove when you are done working.
In this module, you’ll learn all about workspaces. A workspace is the place in Groove to share files, manage projects, and work with custom tools. First, you’ll learn about the different workspace types. Then, we’ll look at how to create a workspace. We’ll take a closer look at the workspace interface. Finally, you’ll learn how to invite other members to the workspace you have created.
In this module, you’ll start putting Groove to work. You’ll learn how to invite additional members to your workspace. You’ll also learn how to start a discussion. This module explains how to share, view, and edit files in your workspace. Finally, we’ll look at how to chat with other members in the workspace.
In this module, you’ll learn how to start customizing your standard workspace to include other tools. We’ll look at how to add standard tools and custom tools. This module also explains how to customize other workspace properties. Finally, we’ll take a look at how to set user roles in the workspace.
In this module, we’ll start taking a closer look at Groove’s built-in tools. We’ll look at the calendar first. Then we’ll look at both the Forms tool and the InfoPath Forms tool. While it seems redundant to have both types of tools, the decision was made to continue supporting the native Groove forms when Microsoft purchased Groove Networks. Next we’ll look at the Issue Tracking Log tool. Finally, this module explains how to use the Meetings tool.
This module examines a few more of Groove’s tools. We’ll look at the NotePad and the SketchPad. You’ll also learn how to work with the Pictures tool. Finally, we’ll learn how to use the SharePoint Files tool.
Groove can alert you to changes made in the workspaces where you are a member. This module will explain how to set default alert options for any future workspaces you create or join. You’ll also learn how to create customized alerts for each tool or workspace. You’ll learn how to view alerts. This module will also explain how to suppress alerts.
The Launchbar Options menu includes several items to manage your Groove activities. First, we’ll look at the Contact Manager to help you manage your Groove contacts. Next, we’ll look at the Workspace Manager. This module explains the status of Groove’s communications as shown in the Communications Manager. Finally, you’ll learn how to view your message history.
In this module, you’ll learn how to save your workspaces as either a template or an archive. You’ll learn how to rename workspaces, tools, and other items. You’ll also learn how to view the properties for an item. Finally, this module explains how to delete different types of items.
This module will help you tweak those last few details for using Groove. You’ll learn how to manage your identity – or the contact information available to other Groove users. You’ll also learn how to set the account options and the security options. This module explains how to set general options that control Groove at startup and messaging, as well as other preferences. Finally, this module explains how to control the synchronization options.
Although this workshop is coming to a close, we hope that your journey to improve your Groove skills is just beginning. Please take a moment to review and update your action plan.
