Module 1 : Types of Controls

In this module, we’ll look at different ways to insert controls onto the template. We’ll also discuss how controls work with the data source. We’ll take a closer look at the types of controls you can use on your form templates: input, object, and container controls. We’ll also take a brief look at using custom controls with your form template. Finally, we’ll look at how to remove controls from the form template.

Module 2 : Repeating and Optional Controls

In this module, you’ll learn how to use repeating tables and sections. Repeating tables and sections allow you to create containers for information, without having to take too much extra space on your form template. Your form users can enter or view as much information as needed. You’ll also learn about optional sections.

Module 3 : Control Tool Properties and Table Tools Tabs

In this module, you’ll learn about the tabs to work with controls and tables. There is a slightly different Control Tools Properties tab for each type of control. The Table Tools tab displays whenever you are working with a table to help you with the table layout.

Module 4 : Actions

This module explains how to use actions with your controls. First, we’ll look at actions based on user input. Then you’ll learn how to create a button to allow your form user to switch views. We’ll take a look at conditional formatting and inserting a formula into a control. Finally, you’ll learn how to use conditions to validate form input data.

Module 5 : Importing Form Designs

In this module, we’ll take a look at using forms you have set up in Word or Excel and converting them to InfoPath form templates. First, we’ll discuss how this process works and consider the features that do not convert from Word or Excel. Then, you’ll get a chance to practice importing a form from a Word document designed as a form. Finally, you’ll get to import an Excel workbook designed as a form.

Module 6 : Advanced Topics

This module explains three advanced topics. You’ll learn how to create a cascading list based on a selection in a drop down list. You’ll also learn about form merging. Finally, we’ll cover how to add resource files to your form template.

Module 7 : Understanding Code

This module will help prepare you to work with programming to further customize your form templates. First, we’ll look at how InfoPath uses XML technologies. Then we’ll look at the InfoPath form events. We’ll also learn how to work with data connections. Finally, we’ll take a look at some considerations when using an add-in.

Module 8 : Publishing Forms

This module will help you understand form security when deciding how to publish your forms. You’ll learn how to set the security level for your forms. You’ll also learn how to publish forms to a network location. This module helps you to understand how to host InfoPath forms in another application.

Module 9 : SharePoint Integration
