While the Office 365 Web Apps are available to anyone who has either a Windows Skydrive account or a SharePoint site, in this course, we will assume that your organization is using the SharePoint site. In this module, we’ll introduce the web apps by discussing the Home Page, the Team Site, and the Shared Documents list. We’ll also explain how to upload one of your existing PowerPoint presentations to the site.
With Office 365 PowerPoint, you (or any of your viewers) can access your presentations anywhere. You can even make a few basic changes right on the same website where you presentation is located.
Welcome to the Office 365 PowerPoint Web App Essentials workshop. With Office 365, you (or any of your viewers) can access your presentations anywhere. You can even make a few basic changes right on the same website where you presentation is located.
The Office 365 experience is designed to make your presentations accessible from nearly anywhere in the world. In this module (and the next), we’ll take a closer look at the reading view for the PowerPoint web app. First, you’ll learn how to open a presentation for review and get an overview of the Reading View. You’ll learn how to page through your presentation and view any slide notes. Finally, this module explains how to close the presentation without closing the PowerPoint web app.
In this module, we continue working with the Reading View. First you’ll learn how to change your view by using the Pop out or the outline view. Next, you’ll learn how to open a presentation for editing in the browser. When we look at the Editing View (in the next module), you’ll see that you can only perform certain types of edits in the web app. In this module, you’ll learn how to open the presentation in the PowerPoint 2010 desktop application so that you can use its more advanced features to polish your presentation. Finally, you’ll learn how to print slides from the Reading View.
Now it is time to start learning how to use the browser for creating and changing your presentations. First, you’ll learn how to create a new presentation file. Then you’ll learn about the types of slides and how to add a slide. You’ll get an overview of the PowerPoint web app interface when working in the Editing view. This module also explains the Slides tab, which allows you to change the order of your slides. Finally, you’ll learn how to hide slides that may not be needed for all audiences.
This module explains the automatic saving process in the PowerPoint web app. You’ll also learn about the content placeholders, where you determine whether your slide will include text, graphics, or other content. You’ll learn about text in this module; you’ll learn about other content later in the course. This module also explains how to edit and delete text; cut, copy, and paste text; and undo or redo a task.
The PowerPoint web app allows you to enhance your text in many ways. In this module, we’ll discuss the different types of formatting, as well as cover the most basic types of formatting your words. This includes the font face, size, and color, as well as enhancing the text with other effects.
Paragraph formatting controls the look and feel of an entire paragraph. In this module, we’ll practice using bullets and numbering. We’ll also discuss how to change the alignment, indents, and text direction of your text.
In this module, we’ll take a closer look at the tools on the Insert tab. You’ll learn how to insert a picture, Clip Art, SmartArt or a link. You’ll also learn how to work with the tools available for each of these types of content.
In this module, we will look at the PowerPoint web app notes area, as well as printing from the editing view and returning to the reading view. We’ll also cover how to start and navigate a slide show in the browser.
You should have a pretty good handle on the PowerPoint web app by now. Let’s take a small detour and learn about broadcasting presentations over the web. In this scenario, you need access to PowerPoint 2010 to broadcast your presentation to anyone, anywhere with a browser and an internet connection. First, we’ll look at the requirements of this capability. You’ll learn how to prepare your presentation for a web broadcast. Then, you’ll learn how to actually start a web broadcast of your presentation, as well as the details of watching one from the audience’s perspective.
Although this workshop is coming to a close, we hope that your journey to improve your PowerPoint web app skills is just beginning. Please take a moment to review and update your action plan. This will be a key tool to guide your progress in the days, weeks, months, and years to come. We wish you the best of luck on the rest of your travels!
