Student’s Behaviorism

Looking for Abnormalities

Education is the bedrock of every society; there is no society that can truly develop without sound education. Hence, this poses that education should be prioritized by both the government and private agencies. The western world seems to have gone beyond others because everything about their educational system is working. This is also feasible for us if we can pay our dues. Those in the know understand that education is a procedural process which can be best imparted when compartmentalized to cater for the need of individuals. Hence, the best period to give your best as a teacher is when your students are still infants—education is critically important for their evolution and as such, must not be defective. In order to ensure the realization of this, the right educational policies must be place and guidelines must also be propounded to ensure their adherence.

Beyond the right policies, what seems to be more important is the behavior of students; if they are not receptive of the knowledge you impart in them, they will make a mockery of the fantastic policies. Hence, this course is designed to prepare you on how to understand your students, their behaviors, the peculiar needs of each of them and what your roles are per time. Before you can understand the behavior of each of your students, you must first have an in-depth knowledge about them. Behavior is psychological and as such, very delicate. You either mold or break your students through their behavior. As a teacher, you have the responsibility of helping them become great industry leaders where they can make positive, charming and enviable impacts in the society. However, there is no one that can give what they don’t have. That is why it is very essential for you to partake in a leadership course like this where your knowledge is broadened, skills sharpened and enlightened on modern day demands of a teacher.

This course will facilitate an all-round development in your career life. Apart from updating you on the roles you are expected to play in the classroom, it trains you on both verbal and non-verbal communications. Communication is the medium through which you impart knowledge, if it is faulty at any stage, the purpose will not be achieved. In the same vein, every teacher is expected to maintain some sort of authority over their class which is technically referred to as classroom management. A rowdy, uncontrolled classroom will not birth great leaders. There are some problems that are peculiar to students. So, all these would be discussed. After identifying the problems, how do you curtail them and re-brand the student for the common good of the society? Furthermore, there are some common behavioral problems that do ravage students. This course will do justice to them.

The course will conclude by sharing new approaches to learning. The perfect definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing the same way and expect different results. After considering the conventional issues and ways in which they can be tackled, the lecture series would be wrapped up with the discourse on new, modern and tested trends every teacher should adopt in bringing up their students. The course is masterfully designed to be solution-driven.

Module 1 : Role of a Teacher

This opening module is expected to lay the foundation for the training session. Two important segments would be considered—the roles of education in human society and what the responsibilities of teachers are in upholding the aforementioned roles. There is no gainsaying that education is the forerunner of every developed society of the world and it is a means of equipping the younger generation for the responsibilities ahead of them. In most cases, policy makers only focus on the students without catering for the needs of the teachers. This chapter is written to empower teachers and upgrade their knowledge on what is expected of them per time. The society will only become balanced when all its facets are empowered to function appropriately.

Module 2 : Verbal, non-verbal communication and behavioral problems

Communication is a key component of any meaningful endeavor. Any system with a faulty communication medium cannot produce an enviable result. This is more important when it concerns adult-children relationship. Teachers should take cognizance of the fact that communication is not only verbal. In fact, the non-verbal aspect should be focused on more because children are easily moved to action than mere words. So, our first point of consideration is to understand the potent tools of verbal and non-verbal communications. Further, we will peruse the concept of classroom management. The ultimate of our discussion in this module will center round behavioral problems of students in classroom. This will cut across students at all levels. It is expected to be practical in a way that it will mirror the behaviors of the students of trainees.

Module 3 : Verbal and Nonverbal Communication

This module is meant to foreground the discussion of the preceding module. The concept of communication cannot be over-flogged. In this module, another approach would be employed in discussing verbal and non-verbal communications. The major objective is to ensure that trainees are equipped with the essential knowledge on communication—you should be certain that your students understand whatever you discuss with them. That is when it can be affirmed that communication has taken place. Also, participants would be made to see the essence of non-verbal communication. Communication is mostly non-verbal and when your actions fail to match your words, the students are left confused. By the time we will be wrapping up on this segment, you should know the thoughts of your students on a given assignment through their facial expressions.

Module 4 : Common problematic students

Students are varied due to the behavior they display per time. While some are naturally co-operative, humble and obedient, others appear problematic, challenging and disobedient. It is not the duty of a wise and impact-driven teacher to segregate between these two categories of students. As a teacher, you should learn how to suppress your emotions, sentiments and take up the challenging role of rearing your students to pride of the society. In this module, we will highlight the problematic students according to classes and discuss ways in which they can be worked on. All you need to do is to identify their behaviors that don’t conform to the society and then, figure out how to work on their psychology. The final step is incorporating them into the acceptable societal structure. All these steps would be discussed in details in the module.

Module 5 : Indicators of out of ordinary behavior

Another hitch many teachers face that impedes the effective delivery of their responsibilities is the beyond-the-ordinary behavior. The sources of this behavior might be from home or other not-well-trained teachers. Well, our major point of concern in this module is not to discuss the source of the non-conformist behavior but what it is and how it affects the mentality of students. When students are made to touch no-go areas such as genitals or private parts, this is unacceptable and corrupts their morals. Some of them might engage in stealing or even suffer from family neglect. Whatever is the problem, as a teacher, you should be able to devise a way of making them know it is wrong and correct them in love. Not making them feel worthless is the main thrust of this module.

Module 6 : Common problematic students

So far, what we have been discussing under different segments of this course pertains to behavior. Whether good or bad, how you see people behave is a product of their behavior. Probably, due to what students were introduced to in their childhood, they take to problematic ways. Dealing with students under this category can be frustrating. So, you first have the responsibility of understanding why they choose to behave like that, what their aim and then you can begin the rehabilitation process. In this module, the common problems would be explicated and then, detailed ways of stopping them would be discussed. In instances of poor performance, the blame is not solely that of the students alone—is your teaching method right?

Module 7 : Recap strategies to overcome problematic behaviors

What stands this manpower training out of many others is that it is solution-driven; it doesn’t just portray problems as they are and then leave them unattended to, it gives practical, concise and proven solutions to them. This module is meant to complement our discourse in Module 6. As a way of making this segment interactive and interesting, it would be supported with adequate case studies. Then, the solutions would be derived from the short case studies. May I chip in that to each problem identified, you dare not apply the same solution—that is why many teachers fail in winning over their students. This module teaches participants to be creative and proactive in their engagements with their students.

Module 8 : ADHD, dyslexia, tactile sensitivity and other problems

Our discussion on this course will not be complete without delving into psychological problems that affect the retention of students. It will be foolhardy to believe that every problem that students encounter is due to acquired behavior. To some of them, it is simply as a result of innate biological challenges and we must treat them differently. In this module, our point of concern will be to highlight to major behavioral challenges and how they tell on students. The first on the list is ADHD—a health condition that affects concentration. Do you rebuke students unnecessarily when they lose concentration? Do you see them as being unserious about their future? You might simply be wrong until you establish the fact about their condition. This module arms you with the weaponry for this assignment.

Module 9 : Radicalization and radicalized students

The way in which radicalization spreads like a wildfire all over the world is becoming unimaginable. It has infiltrated all sectors of human endeavors and the educational institution is not left out in this epidemic. It is not uncommon these days to see students behave like bully and still be proud of themselves. As it is our culture since the beginning of this training session, I will give a little foundation on the source of the behavior and then move on to the main thrust of the discussion. Our major objective in this module is how to prevent and guard against radicalized behavior in students. Those who are victims of radicalization are people from disadvantaged background. So, teachers have the enormous responsibility of making them overcome the enticement into evildoing.

Module 10 : New approaches on teaching

This is the last module and I want to assure you that it is fully loaded with ideas and countless beneficial presentations. It is meant to be take-home knowledge. Learning something new is what makes the difference with an ignorant and retarded fellow. While many people have failed to seek knowledge beyond their present levels, it is essential that one upgrades one’s knowledge on the field per time in order to stand out. Teaching has evolved with the help of technological inventions and you must keep yourself abreast of the new trends that come with it. First, you need to see your students as learners. I have come across many teachers that care less of the demands of their students. In such a situation, you would be lost on the most appropriate method to employ in passing your message. In this module, you will learn the new approaches to teaching and the best for you.

Conclusion : Reflection

This is no doubt one of the well-mapped out manpower training sessions on the surface of the earth—it is timely, well-planned, tailored towards meeting a particular need and branded to satiate the needs of the targeted audience. The course is impact and solution-driven. That is why people who are lovers of new positive trends will find it most appropriate. A glance through the modules of the course convinces one of its aptness. Each of the ten modules is designed to cater for a particular intellectual need which is perfectly linked to the next issue. There is no form of disconnection from the beginning of the course till the last page. With this stimulation in its flow, one has the tendency to easily assimilate and benefit from all points shared therein. From the discussion so far, it is no doubt that we have seen the essence of behavior. Behavior is a powerful psychological tool which has the power to torture anyone that wrongly activates it. In most cases, it is not only the victim of bad behavior that suffers from it; the society as a whole is always made to have a taste of this sour attribute. Hence, that is why it becomes crucial for all stakeholders concerned to make their contributions in creating a utopian world. One of the areas less focused on but unarguably most critical is the educational sector. Education is the bedrock of the society on which every other good virtue lies. When it is punctured, every major event becomes grounded. Unfortunately too, in the few cases where policy-makers beam their light to the sector, they only focus on the products of the system alone without extending their hands to the tools being used to prepare the students. This course was carefully designed to create a sense of balance. The way students behave affects the society as a whole. If they are well-behaved, we can all rest assured that the future is bright and the next generation will further the good works which we have started. If it is the other way round, then we all stand to suffer from the loss too. This course has carefully taken teachers through the means in which they can be in control of their students. First, the relationship in which teachers build with their students tells a lot. Many teachers only treat their students as objects. You must see them as learners—those who look up to you to gain what they never knew before. They are thirsty for knowledge and you must quench their taste rightfully. While some teachers are aware of the aforementioned, they lack the wherewithal in carrying out their responsibility—they don’t know the ethics of class management. Every teacher must see themselves as an authority legally constituted to impact knowledge in their chosen field. Allowing your students’ voice to override yours is tantamount to saying that you are incapacitated. In conclusion, never neglect the fact that the individual background of the students is a crucial factor in their behavioral formation. The way all these issues were explored in this course simply puts you in the rightful position of being a world-changer.
