Excel 2007 Advanced

Knowing how to use the advanced features of Microsoft Excel 2007 opens a completely new experience in using this spreadsheet program. The novice user tends to use Excel 2007 as holding place for report data. They may know how to insert data and move columns around, but rarely go into the deeper functions that Excel 2007 offers.

This workshop will teach the participants the most common advanced features of Microsoft Excel 2007. The goal of this course is to get them familiar with these functions in a safe learning environment. Once it is completed, their familiarity and confidence in using the advanced feature of Excel 2007 will increase, making Excel 2007 a more useful tool for everyone at work or at home.

Welcome to the Excel 2007-Advanced workshop. Knowing how to use the advanced features of Microsoft Excel 2007 opens a completely new experience in using this spreadsheet program. The novice user tends to use Excel 2007 as holding place for report data. They may know how to insert data and move columns around, but rarely go into the deeper functions that Excel 2007 offers. This workshop will teach you the most common advanced features of Microsoft Excel 2007. The goal of this course is to get you familiar with these functions in a safe learning environment. Once you complete the course, your familiarity and confidence in using the advanced feature of Excel 2007 will increase, making Excel 2007 a more useful tool for you at work or at home. Before we begin, let’s learn more about each other. Breaking the ice early in the training session will help to foster a team environment where sharing and learning will occur.

Module 1 : SmartArt

SmartArt is a feature in Excel 2007 that gives you the ability to add your information graphically. The SmartArt feature offers a variety of graphical models. From lists to hierarchical charts, SmartArt makes adding graphics to your document an easy process. In this module, you will learn the following: • How to insert SmartArt • Understand the SmartArt tab • How to add text to the diagram • Resizing and moving the diagram • Resetting the diagram

Module 2 : Inserting Objects

At times, you may need to add objects like pictures, text, and shapes to your spreadsheet. These additions to your document can help to enhance the meaning and appeal of your data. In this module, you will learn the following: • About contextual tabs • How to add pictures • How to add ClipArt • How to add text boxes • How to draw shapes

Module 3 : Creating Charts

Creating charts is an essential task when presenting data. Charts help to communicate your information clearly and concisely. It also adds a visual appeal to the document. In this module, you will learn the following: • How to insert a chart • Understand the Chart Tools Tab • Understand the parts of a chart • How to change the chart style • How to resize and move the chart

Module 4 : Creating Pivot Tables

Pivot tables are useful in presenting data in summary format. Pivot tables are helpful in analyzing data for trends and manipulating data to view different summaries of information. In this module, you will learn the following: • How to insert a pivot table • Understand the pivot table tools tab • How to choose fields

Module 5 : Working with Pivot Tables

In Excel 2007, working with pivot tables is an easy process. Change data and apply styles with a few simple clicks of the mouse. Module 6 : Creating Pivot Charts
