OneNote 2010 Advanced

Your participants will learn how to use the advanced features of OneNote 2010. This workshop is designed to teach you a basic understanding of OneNote 2010 in a practical way. This workshop incorporates a hands-on approach to learning. They will get a chance to practice some of the advanced features right on a computer.

Have you ever wished that you could track appointments, take meeting notes, record research, and keep to-do items all in one place? Well, you can do all that and more with OneNote 2010. In this course, you will show your participants how, plus we’ll explore OneNote’s new ribbon-based interface.

Introduction : Getting Started

Welcome to the Microsoft OneNote 2010 Advanced workshop. OneNote is a flexible canvas to store all of your ideas and notes in one place and store, search or share them. This course will help you learn more advanced skills for working with your Notebooks.

Module 1 : Upgrading from OneNote 2007 or 2003?

In this module, you’ll learn all you need to know about upgrading from OneNote 2003 or 2007, including how your old files are handled and organized. You’ll also learn about the new features in OneNote 2010.

Module 2 : Staying Organized

This module takes a closer look at keeping your notebooks organized. You’ll learn how to use the Navigation Bar. You’ll learn about the drag and drop functionality both for organizing your pages within sections and section groups, as well as to organize subpages. This module explains how to view pages that have recently been edited. You’ll also learn how to work with revision history for your pages.

Module 3 : Note Taking Tools

In this module, we’ll take a closer look at some of the tools available in OneNote 2010. You’ll learn about using hyperlinks to organize your notes. You’ll also learn about using the translator tools. This module explains how to work with tables. Finally, we’ll take a closer look at using the calculator while taking notes and including equations in your notes.

Module 4 : Text and Page Formatting

This module will introduce some tools to help you make your notes look great. You’ll learn how to format your notes using different tools on the mini toolbar. You’ll also learn about page templates, including how to select a page template for the current page, how to select a default template, and how to create a new template.

Module 5 : Drawing and Handwriting Notes

This module addresses issues related to working with OneNote on a Tablet PC or using the handwriting features on any type of computer. We’ll look at the drawing, writing, and pen color tools, as well as the option to treat a pen as handwriting or drawing. Finally, we’ll look at converting handwriting to text.

Module 6 : Office Integration

In this module, we’ll take a closer look at using OneNote with other Office 2010 programs. You can insert your files as attachments or printouts. You can send the contents of a file from another application, like Excel or PowerPoint, or from within OneNote. We’ll also look at sending a page to Word and other formats.

Module 7 : Researching a Topic

This module will help you use OneNote to the fullest when you are researching a topic. We’ll look at the OneNote Side Note window. Then we’ll look at the process for sending Web pages to OneNote. This module will take a closer look at the Research task pane. You’ll learn how to make text in pictures searchable, which will greatly enhance your ability to find information in your notes.

Module 8 : Linked Notes

In this module, you will learn about linked notes sessions. We’ll learn how to start and finish a linked notes session. This module explains how to view or remove linked notes. You’ll also learn how to disable and re-enable linked notes.

Module 9 : Collaborating

In this module, we’ll look at using your notebooks from any computer. You’ll learn how to share notebooks with other computers or other authors. You’ll also learn about notebook synchronization. Finally, this module explains how to search for notes by author.

Module 10 : Other Tools

This module will explain how to password protect different sections or even the whole notebook to keep others from viewing your notes. We’ll also take a closer look at the tools for including audio and video in your notes. Finally, we’ll take a look at searching your audio recordings.

Conclusion : Wrapping Up
