OneNote 365 Essentials

Through this workshop your participants will be introduced to the way OneNote is integrated into the 365 Web Apps by discussing the Home Page, the Team Site, and the Shared Documents list. We’ll also explain how to upload one of your existing OneNote notebooks to the site.

With Office 365 OneNote, you can access your OneNote notebooks from the same website where they are stored, and make some basic changes without using a computer where your desktop Office applications are installed.

Introduction : Getting Started

Welcome to the Office 365 OneNote Web App Essentials workshop. With Office 365, you can access your OneNote notebooks from the same website where they are stored, and make some basic changes without using a computer where your desktop Office applications are installed.

Module 1 : Welcome to Office 365 Web Apps

While the Office 365 Web Apps are available to anyone who has either a Windows Skydrive account or a SharePoint site, in this course, we will assume that your organization is using the SharePoint site. In this module, we’ll introduce the web apps by discussing the Home Page, the Team Site, and the Shared Documents list. We’ll also explain how to upload one of your existing OneNote notebooks to the site.

Module 2 : Working with Notebooks

This module explains how the OneNote notebooks work. You’ll learn how to open an existing notebook and create a new notebook. The module also covers the interface on the OneNote web app. You’ll learn about how the notebooks are saved. Finally, you’ll also learn how to close notebooks without leaving the Office 365 site.

Module 3 : Working with Pages and Sections

In this module, you will learn about the Pages pane. The Pages pane is where you can organize your notebook. You’ll learn how to work with sections, pages, and subpages. You’ll also learn how to move and delete pages.

Module 4 : Editing in the Browser

In this module, you’ll learn how to change your view by using the Pop Out or minimizing the Ribbon. In the next few modules, you’ll learn more about the changes you can make to your notebooks in the web app. However, there are some changes that you’ll need to perform in OneNote 2010. In this module, you’ll learn how to open the notebook in OneNote 2010, so that your notes stay up-to-date while you make those more advanced changes. This module also introduces the basics of adding text to your notes.

Module 5 : Basic Editing Tasks

Now it is time to start learning how to use the browser for making minor editing changes to your shared notebooks. First, we’ll look at how to select and edit text with the mouse or keyboard. You’ll learn how to use cut, copy and paste, as well as the undo and redo commands. Finally, you’ll learn how to check your spelling and set your proofing language

Module 6 : Formatting Your Text

The OneNote web app allows you to enhance your text in many ways. In this module, we’ll discuss the different types of formatting, as well as cover how to apply font formatting. You’ll learn how to change the font face and size, color, add enhancements, highlight text, and clear the formatting.

Module 7 : Paragraph Formatting, Styles and Tags

Paragraph formatting controls the look and feel of an entire paragraph. In this module, we’ll discuss how to set the alignment, text direction, and indents. We’ll also practice using bullets and numbers to create lists. This module also introduces styles, which are a powerful formatting tool to provide consistency in your formatting. Finally, this module explains how to use Tags to categorize your notes.

Module 8 : The Insert Tools (I)

In this module and the next, we’ll take a closer look at the tools on the Insert tab. First, we’ll look at how to insert a table, as well as how to add text to a table. We’ll also take a look at the Table Tools tab that appears when you are working in a table. Then, you’ll learn how to insert a link.

Module 9 : The Insert Tools (II)

In this module, you’ll learn about using pictures with the OneNote web app. You’ll learn how to insert a picture from a file or from Clip Art. This module also introduces the Picture Tools tab; where there are a few commands to help you control the appearance of your picture in the web app.

Module 10 : The View Tab

This module introduces the Reading View, a way to quickly page through your notebook without using the editing tools. You’ll also learn about showing the authors of different parts of your notebook, which can help out if many different authors, are collaborating on the notebook. Finally, this module explains how to use Page Versions.

Conclusion : Wrapping Up
