Microsoft’s PowerPoint 2007 uses the new ribbon interface, and offers significant improvement to its graphical capability. They will get a chance to practice some of the basic features right on a computer. Taking the time to learn about the features of PowerPoint 2007 will increase their presentation skills.
Welcome to the Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 Essentials workshop. PowerPoint is the world’s premier presentation software. You can use PowerPoint to create and edit slides, and then to run the slide show while you deliver your presentation. Slides can have a variety of information on them, and you can add interest to your slides using formatting and animation. Microsoft’s newest version of PowerPoint uses the new ribbon interface, and offers significant improvement to its graphical capability.
In this module, you will learn to open and close PowerPoint. You will also explore the PowerPoint interface, and become familiar with the different panes. Finally, you will create a new, blank presentation.
In this module, you will learn how to create presentations based on a template. When you are working on a presentation, you should save it regularly, in order to protect your work. You will also learn how to access the presentations you have already created. You will learn how to save and open presentations. Finally, you will learn how to close a presentation.
Presentations consist of slides. Each slide can contain text, graphics, animations and more. In this module, you will learn to add text to a slide, and to add slides to a presentation. At any time you can change the order of your slides using the Slides tab. Spell Check helps ensure there are no errors.
Although PowerPoint has a lot of formatting built in to it, you can also choose to apply additional formatting. In this module, you will learn how to change the font type and size, the color and spacing of the text, as well as how to apply bold and italics. Although you can do most formatting using the Home tab, you can also open the Font dialog to gain access to all formatting choices. Finally, you will learn how to clear formatting if you don’t like it.
PowerPoint slides tend to be made of short, succinct paragraphs – perhaps not even using full sentences. You can use paragraph formatting to ensure they look exactly how you want them to. In this module, you will learn how to use bullets and numbering, change the alignment, and work with indents and tabs. You can also change the spacing between the lines of your paragraphs.
Now that you know how to create slides and add text to them, you can benefit from some tools for working with your text. In this module, you will learn how to move and copy text, including the Office Clipboard. You will learn to use Undo to reverse your last action(s), and Redo to repeat them. And you will see that you can replace words throughout your presentation using Find and Replace.
It’s time to make your presentation look better! In this module, you will learn how to use the Format Painter to quickly transfer formatting from one place to another. You will add a background to your slides by applying a background style, and then by applying a Theme. You can then change the color scheme of a theme. Finally, you will learn how to change the slide layout.
The next step is to customize your presentation. In this module, you will learn how to add header and footers to your slides. Then, you will add animation to your presentation, starting with the built in animations, and moving to custom animation. Finally, you will control how your slides appear on the screen, by setting transitions and advance options.
In this module, we will look at the PowerPoint features you can use to get ready to run your presentation. You will learn how to set options in the Set Up Slide Show dialog, and how to record a narration for your show. You can rehearse your show to see how long you are spending on each slide, and choose to hide certain slides.
It’s finally time to run your presentation. In this module, we will discuss some tips for presenting well. You will learn to start a show, and to navigate through it. While running the show, you can annotate it, or temporarily switch to a blank screen.
