PowerPoint 2013 Essentials

Your participants will learn how to use the standard features of PowerPoint 2013. This workshop is designed to get into the basic features of PowerPoint 2013. Participants will be shown a practical way of learning with a hands-on and customizable approach. They will get a chance to experience some of the new features that are offered in PowerPoint 2013.

PowerPoint 2013 is the world’s premier presentation software. With PowerPoint 2013 you are provided a new landing screen which makes launching and creating documents easier than previous versions. There is also an improved Presentation View with gives your presentations that extra focus. PowerPoint 2013 also has an improved user interface with an array of powerful tools to help you share your presentations through Skydrive!

Introduction : Getting Started

Welcome to the Microsoft PowerPoint 2013 Essentials workshop. PowerPoint is a powerful presentation for the presentation of visual and graphical items. You can do everything from creating simple handouts to developing an animated presentation with audio.

Module 1 : Opening PowerPoint

In this module, you will learn how to open PowerPoint, where you’ll first encounter the Recent list and other ways you can start a presentation. You’ll learn how to open files and how to create a presentation using a template, using a theme, or starting from scratch.

Module 2 : Working with the Interface

In this module, we’ll introduce you to the PowerPoint 2013 interface, which uses the Ribbon from the previous two versions of PowerPoint. You’ll get a closer look at the Ribbon, as well as the Navigation pane and the Status bar. You’ll also learn how to manage your Microsoft account right from a new item above the Ribbon. This module introduces you to the Backstage view, where all of the functions related to your files live. You’ll learn how to save files. Finally, we’ll look at closing files and closing the application.

Module 3 : Your First Presentation

In this module, you will create your first presentation. Presentations consist of slides. Each slide can contain text, graphics, animations, and more. You’ll learn how to add slides, use the content placeholders, and add text to your presentation. This module also covers using the Slides tab, which allows you to change the order of your slides.

Module 4 : Working with Text

The PowerPoint 2013 editing tools make editing your presentation a breeze. This module covers how to work with text, including selecting, editing, deleting, cutting, copying, and pasting. It also explains how to use the Office Clipboard. You’ll learn how to use undo and redo and how to find and replace text, such as when you want to change a PowerPoint or phrase throughout your presentation.

Module 5 : Formatting Text and Paragraphs

PowerPoint 2013 allows you to enhance your text in many ways. In this module, we’ll discuss the different ways you can format your words, including the font face, size, and color, as well as enhancements and spacing. We’ll also discuss how to clear formatting if you change your mind. Paragraph formatting controls the look and feel of an entire paragraph. You’ll also practice using bullets and numbering and using the paragraph dialog to change the alignment, indents, tabs, and line spacing of your text.

Module 6 : Adding Pictures

In this module, you’ll enhance your presentations with pictures. First, we’ll look at how to insert a picture from a file or online. You’ll also learn how to add screenshots. You’ll get an introduction to the Picture Tools tab, a context-sensitive tab on the Ribbon that appears when you are working with any kind of picture. Finally, we’ll look at how to resize, move, or delete a picture.

Module 7 : Advanced Formatting Tasks

This module introduces additional ways to format your text or paragraphs, as well as ways to change the look of your slides. This module covers using the format painter. It explains how to change a slide’s layout, as well as Theme and variants. You’ll learn about slide sizes and how to change to a standard or widescreen slide size.

Module 8 : Working with Transitions and Animations

The information in this module can help you to create a presentation that really dazzles your audience. We’ll cover how to add a transition effect from one slide to the next. You’ll also learn about slide advance options. This module also explains how to add a basic animation. Finally, you’ll learn about the animation painter to save time and make your animations more consistent.

Module 9 : Setting Up Your Slide Show

In this module, we will look at the PowerPoint features you can use to get ready to run your presentation. You’ll learn how to preview your slide show, as well as how to use the set up show dialog box. You’ll also learn how to record a narration. This module covers how to time you show. Finally, we’ll look at hiding slides, so that you can customize your presentations for different audiences.

Module 10 : Showtime!

You are almost ready to give a presentation. This module will help you with the final preparations, including our top five PowerPoint tips. We’ll discuss how to start a show, how to navigate through the show, how to use different pointers during your presentation, and how to switch to a blank screen.
