Alan Elangovan

Leading Criminal Trainer

The Master Trainer of LPS Training Services is Mr. Alan, an erudite psychologist with three decades of firsthand experience. For the past 30 years, he has been equipping civil servants in Singapore and the corporate world on how to enhance and harness their skills for increased productivity. His expertise in strategic training has made him the cynosure of all eyes within and outside of Singapore.

He has been the point man in identifying, researching and strategically implementing the specific training needs for the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) workforce in their various departments. Alan’s strategic plans in the Ministry have been described as being strong, result-oriented and masterful. Further, he was the team lead in drafting the right curriculum for training in the MHA.

For seven years, he was the company trainer at the SAF; he spent the next five years in the private sector as a corporate trainer before pitching his tent with the Ministry of Home Affairs for two decades as their master trainer and public speaker.

From experience, Alan understands that detecting a high-quality forgery and other related criminal cases is time-consuming, energy-demanding and intellectually-tasking, and as such, he came up with a quintessential training program tagged Profiling Techniques and Behavioral Courses. With the program professionally implemented, crime detection in the Ministry became extremely easy. In his relentless innovative efforts, Alan also birthed other detection skill-enhancing programs such as Facial Recognition; Body, Vehicle and Baggage Search Techniques; Investigation Techniques; Security Questioning; The Power of Observation; The Power of Sub-Conscious Mind; Truth about Liars and The Secrets of Questions. All the aforementioned programs were solely developed and implemented by him.

Since 2004, he has always been the resource personnel at Immigration Checkpoints Authority’s (ICA) seminars for their workforce. He does this twice in a year for the pastone decade. In 2005, Alan recorded another great feat by being contracted to share his wealth of experience with officers in some other countries of the world. Since then, he has been a regular face in seminars conducted for immigration and customs officers in Indonesia, Malaysia, Bhutan and Cambodia. His foreign trainees were always intrigued at his mastery of the skills and as such, many more countries heard of his prowess and extended invitations to him.

When it obviously became practically impossible to answer all the invitations, the admirers of his training sessions in other Asian countries requested to travel down to Singapore to attend his engaging and impactful classes. The continuous flow of classes he conducts for people from all over the world has unarguably enhanced the quality of his delivery and also increased his knowledge. In order not to see himself as a delusional island of knowledge, he had also attended some specialized training sessions in Denmark, Germany and Australia.

In an exchange program with neighboring countries on Intelligence sharing and Trans border Crimes, Alan was contacted to be the lead speaker. Without an iota of exaggeration, Alan is, at present, the most sought after trainer within and outside the landscape of Singapore by colleagues and corporate bodies.

In 2009, the LPS Training Services Master Trainer was seconded to Home Front Security Division at Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to facilitate the training of key appointment holders from the Ministry comprising of Singapore Police Force, Internal Security Department, Singapore Civil Defence, Central Narcotics Bureau and some other sister institutions under the umbrella of the MHA. Within his three years of secondment in the Ministry, Alan trained an estimated number of 25,000 officers. Alan has trained about 100,000 officers within the MHA and ICA Training School.

His efforts were never allowed to go in vain as he has clinched many laurels and international recognitions. He was the given the title of a Principle by the MHA in 2011 and Master Trainer in 2015. Other coveted awards that Alan has won are: Commissioner Testimonial for Outstanding Trainer Award and Commendation for Outstanding Trainer Award. Since then, many other laurels have crossed his path. Any trainee that comes under Alan is always fortunate.
